How we test AI tools
Every hands-on review on this site is based on a real test, done by Rachid Amesrouy on his own projects. Here is exactly how we do it, so you can judge our results for yourself.
1. We use the tool like a normal user
- We sign up with a normal account, usually on the free plan or free trial, the way most readers will start.
- We never accept special accounts or settings that a normal user would not get. If a company gives us extra access, we say so in the article.
2. We test on real work, not demos
- We use our own material: songs from a 16,000-subscriber YouTube music channel, articles from this site, product designs from a photo lab that has been printing since 2007, and real business questions.
- Where it matters, we test in English, Arabic and Moroccan Darija, because many tools work well in English and fail in other languages.
- When the right answer is known (a calculation, a passport photo rule, our own song lyrics), we check the tool against it.
3. We show the evidence
- Every step is screenshotted, and the screenshots in our articles come from our own tests. We crop out private details such as email addresses.
- We record the numbers that matter: credits used, time taken, export quality, watermarks and free-plan limits.
- When a tool cites sources, we open some of them to check they are real.
4. We report what went wrong
- Every review has a pros and cons section, and we write the cons as clearly as the pros.
- If a tool fails, misspells Arabic, invents facts, hides features behind a paywall or pushes upgrades, we say so, even when we have an affiliate link to it.
- Our verdicts are our opinion after one real test. Results can differ with other tasks, so we encourage readers to try free plans themselves.
5. Overviews are labelled as overviews
Some tool pages describe a tool we have not tested yet, based on official information and recent reviews. Those pages say so clearly ("Overview" and a note at the top), and we link to the sources we used. When we test the tool, the page becomes a "Review".
6. Prices and plans
Prices come from each tool's own pricing page or recent sources, and every article shows when it was checked. AI tools change fast, so always confirm the current price on the official site before you pay.
7. Affiliate links and AI assistance
- Some links are affiliate links: we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate programs never see our articles before publication and never decide what we write. Many tools we test have no affiliate program at all. See our affiliate disclosure.
- We use AI assistants, including Claude, to help write and build pages. The testing, the screenshots and the judgement (especially on Arabic and Darija) are done by a human. When we compare a tool made by a company whose AI helps us write, we disclose it in that article.
